Phosphor Bronze Versus Silicon Bronze: Which is Better?

Phosphor Bronze Versus Silicon Bronze: Which is Better?

What is Bronze?

Tin and copper are combined to create the metal alloy bronze, but they may also contain other substances. Copper alloys such as bronze have well-defined properties and alloying components. Lead, manganese, nickel, silicon, zinc, and other elements are incorporated to enhance bronze and generate a variety of bronze grades.

What is Bronze Silicon?

Red silicon brass and red Silicon Bronze Bars are metal alloys that are made up of 20% zinc and 6% silicon. A red silicone coating is generally applied to them. Due to its excellent strength and corrosion resistance, Red brass is commonly used for valve stems, while Red bronze has characteristics very similar to Red brass, although less zinc is present. Both materials are widely used for pump and valve components.

What is Bronze Phosphor?

Typically, the tin percentage in this alloy ranges from 0.5 to 1.0 percent, and the phosphorous content ranges from 0.01 to 0.35 percent. The strength of the material, durability, low coefficient of friction, high fatigue resistance, and thin grain distinguish these alloys. Among its properties, phosphorus ensures wear resistance and stiffness, while tin ensures rust resistance and strength. Electrical products, bellows, springs, washers, and corrosion-resistant equipment are among the most common end uses of this product.
